Chef Michael Wignall is leaving Devon’s Gidleigh Park after two years to set up his own venture.
Michael joined Gidleigh Park in January 2016 and was awarded many accolades including two Michelin stars just nine months after starting at the luxury hotel in Chagford near Newton Abbot.
He is set to depart after the start of the new year.
Stephanie Hocking, chief executive of Andrew Brownsword Hotels, said: “Michael has brought a breath of fresh air to Gidleigh Park and his cooking, innovation and style won Michelin and industry recognition incredibly quickly.
“We would like to thank Michael for all his efforts that have driven the dining experience forward and maintained Gidleigh Park’s reputation as one of the finest country house hotels in the UK.”
Michael said: “It’s been a pleasure to live and work in Devon and I am so proud of what I’ve achieved, together with my amazing team at Gidleigh Park.
“I’m now looking forward to my next venture which I will be announcing in the very near future.”
