A Cornish company that hires outdoor cinema equipment to event organisers across the UK has grown from three events to more than 300 in just three years.
Skylight Cinema, based in St Austell, is planning for major growth as the outdoor cinema trend takes off.
It has become increasingly popular over the past five years and it is estimated there will be more than 1,200 outdoor screenings across the UK in 2018.
Business owner Warwick Royden said: “From first inquiry through to the event itself, we work to ensure our clients have all the support they need – no matter how unusual the request.
“Skylight has done screenings on ferries and in fields, on rooftops and mountains and in swimming pools and quarries. Our most bizarre location was in the most haunted church in England for a 3 Mobile horror screening.”
Around 95% of its screenings take place in London and outside of Cornwall.
Produced by a German company called AirScreen, Skylight’s inflatable screens are 8 metres and 10 meters wide and big enough for up to 2,000 people.
Its clients include English Heritage, The National Trust, ITV, Carlsberg and The Red Cross.
